Hello, we are Mike and Harriet and we hope that if you should choose to visit Ilfracombe you will love it just as much as we do. We live on the ground floor of the building so are here to sort out any issues or offer any advice.
Ilfracombe harbour has a rich history with the remnants of a Bronze Age fort on the hill overlooking the harbour. It is famous for its reputation of being home to many pirates and smugglers over the years. There is something for everyone here so you can be as active or chilled out as you like. The one thing we are proud to say we do not have is a selection of international fast food outlets, what a refreshing change. Instead we do have a good selection of cafes , bars and restaurants of all price ranges from cheap and cheerful to Michelin Star. Sample the local fresh fish and local beers and ciders. There is also a good selection of places that have children's facilities, play areas and good children's menus. The harbour is very popular over the Christmas and New Year period but there are many events going on right the way through the summer months including the Bird Man contest where locals attempt to fly off the quay in or on homemade contraptions, beer festivals, food festivals and music. Browse through the number of local art gallaries or visit the Ilfracombe museum for a fascinating wonder through the ages.
