Nearby is Grizedale Forest Park which offers good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure playground, whilst for those who aren't keen on 'monkeying around' the National Trust care for a number of properties in the area. There are also a variety of water sports available across the many beaches. Children may enjoy a visit the "World of Beatrix Potter" in Bowness, which brings famous characters to life using animatronic technology.
