Information about the host
Penylan Barn is a recently converted barn just 3 miles from Hay-on-Wye. The extensive south facing windows and skylights fill the interior with natural light and afford incredible views over the surrounding countryside. The comfortable double room has it own en suite bathroom with bath and shower. Please see our photo gallery for more details.
We moved to the area from London ten years ago and love it here. We are both passionate about art, design and the environment - this is reflected in the design, layout and workings of the barn. I work in renewable energy and Flo is a garden designer.
The surrounding countryside is some of the most stunning in the UK. We are close to The Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, Offa's Dyke and Herefordshire, where there is incredible walking, biking and horse riding. Hay - "the Town of Books" - is a unique town, with many wonderful independent shops and spirits! Hay hosts a number of events throughout the year, including the world famous Hay Festival. We are 5 mins drive from Hay or an easy one hour walk on public footpaths. There are lots of good pubs and restaurants in the area which we are happy to recommend to guests.
