Information about the host

I'm a freelance IT consultant, and my partner Michelle is an environmental consultant - but that's just the day job! What we'd both rather be doing is getting out onto the moors and mountains and enjoying the natural environment. That's why we've just moved (back in my case) to Dartmoor and want to share our piece of paradise with like minded people. We live in the house so are available to answer your questions, help with plans and socialise with you if you wish. Guests have their own lounge and dining space.

10 An excellent good value B&B

Pros: I really liked the relaxed help yourself when you like breakfast! Also impressed with the lack of single use plastic - no unnecessary little sachets of anything! And we were pleasantly surprised to find we had the use of a large lounge. Location is in a beautiful part of the country.

Cons: I can't think of anything I didn't like about Riverside!

Pros: The position east side of dartmoor. Having a fridge to put own special diet needs into .plenty of maps /books and leaflets on shelves. Good fluffy towels .shampoo .a simple moisturising soap and shower gel would be better than mint shower gel and passion fruit soap.Bathroom nice but too big in relation to bedroom. Not keen on having a 2nd bathroom door that leads directly into main corridor.

Cons: Twin room far too small.no tea making in room.no chairs in room crick in neck to watch rooms TV. Could feel springs in mattresses. Room not serviced for the 4 night stay.bin full in bathroom spider and Web in bath on arrival, had to remove before showering .no welcome booklet or fire instructions in room. slats in tall bathroom cupboard to widely spaced. Breakfast felt like everything rationed out in plastic containers. Also for a self serve non cooked type breakfast could have done with some cold meats/cheese.other choice of fruit yoghurts. Maybe some tinned apricots or dried fruit to add to cereals or yoghurt. Only decaf coffee ,t bags and instant hot chocolate available on morning table.A selection of fruit/herbal teas would be nice.A small microwave would be useful too. Lounge didn't feel cosy as so spartan furnishings wise. Had to turn sofa to watch TV on Wall 90° to its place position. Only 3 lounge seats and 4 dining chairs. Some more occasional coffee tables would be nice to put cups on by your seating . Access from road narrow and not signed till on top of entrance also dark at night.some reflectors or lights would be good.as busy narrow a road means can't suddenly turn if traffic behind you Entrance drive could be widened to make the slope access easier too.Had to turn on radiator valve stretching down behind bed. Sockets in wall would be better higher.some people find access to these difficult.A blind on bathroom window would be nice.

Pros: lovely quiet area. good breakfast and very helpful and welcoming hosts. would stay again if and when we want to stay in that area as there was a lot to see and enjoy.

Cons: we did still have a little trouble finding it even with helpful directions from the hosts but we did have a laugh about it
