Rowan Cottage Self Catering is an extension to our home but separate in every other way. It has its own entrance and parking and is set in a beautiful location just 4km from the Island's capital, Portree. On the ground floor there is a hallway, a bedroom with a king-sized bed and a large bathroom with bath and shower unit (above bath) which can be accessed from the hall and the bedroom. On the floor above is the second bedroom with twin beds and an open plan living room/kitchen. There are televisions in both bedrooms and in the main sitting area which also boasts a balcony. There are spectacular views from every window and we are one of the only properties where you will see Dun Caan (on the Island of Raasay), Ben Tianavaig, the Cuillins and Macleod's Tables in one panoramic setting from our balcony.

This is our first year hosting although we have run a Bed and Breakfast business in the past. Our children are fluent Gaelic speakers and my husband's family has lived on Skye since records began so if you have any questions about the Island we cannot answer, there will be plenty of people we can ask - my father-in-law, who is 94 years old, still lives in Portree and knows everything! We are all avid walkers and love the outdoors so can give advice on the many beautiful places to visit.

Situated in a crofting community with uninterrupted views of the Cuillins, Rowan Cottage is in a very peaceful location. The fields around us have sheep and cows and sometimes even deer. It is only a 7-minute drive from Portree where you will find restaurants, bars and shops. From the harbour, boat trips are available where you will witness spectacular views of Skye and hopefully dolphins, seals and even sea-eagles on occasion. In the opposite direction, we are just a 10 minute drive from the Old Man of Storr and if you carry on this road around the North end of the Island you will also pass by the Lealt Falls, Kilt Rock and the Quiraing. Rowan Cottage offers the best of both worlds with its proximity to Portree yet breathtaking rural setting.
