A luxuriously appointed self-catering apartment appealing to any one that would like to sample the shopping and Olde Worlde charm of Salisbury or to sight see world heritage sites such as Stonehenge, Old Sarum or Salisbury Cathedral. The apartment has its own entrance and is comprised of a kitchen/diner downstairs with narrow oak stairs leading to a cosy lounge, shower wetroom and the double bedroom. There is a TV and free broadband wi-fi. Parking is shared on the driveway or on the street in front of the house. Sraumdipity is in Stratford-sub-Castle with views over the water meadows at the back which the River Avon flows through, and views up to Old Sarum at the front – just a sort walk to across the fields. Old Sarum is where the first City and Cathedral of Salisbury were established before they re-located to the modern City of Salisbury, (New Sarum), about 800 years ago. It has been a Saxon Hill Fort, a Roman Fort, and a medieval castle – the seat of William the Conquror and King John. It is now an English Heritage site, still an imposing and substantial hill fort and where the ruins of the old cathedral and castle can be explored. The modern medieval city of Salisbury is a 15 minute walk from Sarumdipity, via a dedicated paved footpath and cycle path leading through parkland and along the banks of the river to the heart of the city and the Cathedral. Visitors can explore the city, enjoy its shopping and many restaurants, cafés, pubs, Inns and bars. Stonehenge and Woodhenge are 8 miles North, with Avebury Stone Circle and Silbury Hill 24 miles away. For anglers, Sarumdipity overlooks the Parsonage Farm stretch of the river and is half a mile from the Cartshed, home of Salisbury and District Angling. You know if there is a hatch on because the May Flies dance in the garden, and during a spinner fall they will be landing on the car!
We are lucky to live in such a beautiful and convenient part of Salisbury and have a self contained apartment that we let to guests. We do it for the fun of it, we like to make every stay special and hope our guests really enjoy their stays. We have one apartment in Salisbury and one in Bath and so although we like to do a professional job, we are not a commercial organisation. This means that we can take the time and care to make each visit unique. We know what we like when we travel, and what we look for in a self catering apartment, so we always ask ourselves what would we want if we were the guest, and then we do it. We live next door to the apartment and are always happy to give local advice and guidance to any of our guests, meeting guests is part of the enjoyment.
Sarumpipity is located in a quiet part of Salisbury known as Stratford-sub-Castle. Situated in the valley below Old Sarum, footpaths lead up to the Iron Age hill fort, Roman fort and Medieval Castle - the seat of both King John and William the Conqueror and the site of the first City of Salisbury. A cycle and pedestrian path leads to the City, and Salisbury Cathedral - the tallest in Europe. The rear of the property looks over the water meadow to the River Avon and the Stratford Nature Reserve.
