In a peaceful, secluded valley on the outskirts of Ilfracombe and convenient for Woolacombe, this splendid 18th-century country house is surrounded by gardens, woodland and streams.
In a quiet location, Score Valley Country House is 1 miles (1 miles) from Ilfracombe; a 5-minute drive or a pleasant 20-minute walk through Bicclescombe Park to the High Street.
Hidden from the road in its own valley behind a band of tall trees, the location makes it a great base from which to explore the vast sandy beaches of North Devon's golden coast or the wonders of Exmoor. The attractive, tranquil grounds surround the hotel’s car park, which is free for guests.
All of the spacious and comfortable rooms are individually furnished and equipped with all the necessary comforts and facilities.
Score Valley Country House takes great pride in its relaxed, friendly atmosphere and locally sourced home-cooked food.
Score Valley Country House is located just off the main road as you approach Ilfracombe. It is set in 1.5 acres of woodland, down a lane and hidden by tall trees from the road. Creating a quiet base for your stay - nicely away from the traffic on the main road. Although it is only a 20 minute walk from Ilfracombe it is remarkably peaceful with fascinating birds and wildlife for nature lovers. Obviously we cannot guarantee sightings! But deer, foxes and the resident Buzzards, Tawny & Barn Owls & a lovely selection of seasonal visitors make this their home. With ample parking for all, no worrying about if there is going to be a parking space left for you. The property itself was built around 1700 and retains many interesting original features. Much of the grounds of the property and the lane that runs through the valley is walled with slate walls. A walk down the lane follows the course of the East Wilder Brook taking you first to the beautiful Bicclescombe Park and then onward ultimately to the High Street & Sea Front.
Donna & Paul bought the business in 2017 and love living in the quiet valley, but so close to the sea and sights. Paul is a qualified chef and delights in cooking to order your Full English breakfast, with all locally sourced ingredients. Some from his own gardens. Donna is Ilfracombe born & bred, and can help with all enquiries of what to do and how to get there. And if you've got relations in Ilfracombe - she will probably know them! Dog friendly with towels, water, mats and treats. Ample space to excercise them without even leaving the grounds. And more importantley giving Donna her dog fix :)
