Escaping the city we found the 2012 Olympic Sailing a perfect excuse to look outside London, moving to a new life in Dorset in 2005. Jo and Mark now live at Seventyseven with their Mainecoon cat Delphi. Our building is the old Liptons Supermarket, it was mostly derelict and boarded up but just needed a lot of work and some tlc to bring it back to life. After a couple of years work the B and B opened for business in August 2007. Work carried on and the shop was rebuilt and opened in 2012 as an Art Gallery and Cafe. The shop is now called the Outpost and is the base for "b-side" an arts organisation delivering an amazing arts festival every two years. Portland is full of things to do, activities include; sailing, climbing, fishing, walking, diving, it has three castles, two museums and over 500 years of naval history, offering a treasure trove of exciting things to see and do during a stay on Portland.
Portland is at the centre of the World Heritage Jurassic coast, perfect for business or pleasure, close to Portland Port, the Marina and the National Sailing Academy; site of the 2012 Olympic Sailing it now offers a range of top class water sports activities. A treasure trove, Portland has played a key role in British Naval History from the Armada to WWII; the rugged landscape creates an environment full of birds, wild life and flora. A wonderful place to walk, climb and explore.
