Information about the host

The Shepherd's Hut is an original shepherd's hut which which was built about 1920 and was left on the farm when we bought the farm in 1997. I refurbished and fully insulated it some years ago and used it when I was lambing my sheep. It enjoys uninterrupted southeasterly views to the Dorset coast and the Isle of Wight.

I am a recently retired country vet and now manage our small farm on which we have a flock of sheep and six horses at livery. I have a few hives of bees and enjoy gardening and woodwork projects. Audrey is a local District Councillor. We have 4 children and 5 grandchildren spread around the world.

The famous thatched village of Milton Abbas is half a mile from the farm. It has a very good restaurant/pub (The Hambro Arms) and the beautiful Milton Abbey at the far end of the village. Blandford Forum is the nearest town (7 miles away) with good restraints and supermarkets and Dorchester, the county town is 9 miles away.
