One of our top picks in Shaftesbury. Snobs and Rebels Apartments is part of the lively music cafe Angola '76 in the centre of Shaftesbury and offers a shared lounge and a terrace. The accommodation is 30.4 miles from Dorchester.
Boasting a DVD player, the apartment has a kitchenette with a microwave, a fridge and a toaster, a living room, a dining area, 2 bedrooms, and 1 bathroom with a shower. A flat-screen TV with satellite channels is available.
A continental breakfast is available each morning at the apartment.
Salisbury is 21.1 miles from Snobs and Rebels Apartments, while Poole is 28 miles from the property. The nearest airport is Bournemouth Airport, 29.8 miles from the accommodation.
Snobs and Rebels Guesthouse is an extension of the unique cafe restaurant Angola '76 in the centre of the ancient Saxon hilltop market town of Shaftesbury – the destination for enlightened visitors. The guesthouse is a 2 bedroom apartment arranged on the ground floor of a 200 year old renovated green sandstone barn. The décor is a range on antique and vintage British Colonial leftovers, giving the feel of the rich and colourful days of the British Empire, represented in The Polo and The Military rooms. There is a shared bathroom, sitting area and kitchenette. The property has slate floors with underfloor heating throughout. Adjacent to the guesthouse is the café Angola '76 that opens daily at 11am and serves lunch and dinner. Here you can enjoy a quirky weeknight with good world cuisine, outstanding beers and cocktails. On street parking is available in Shaftesbury but we recommend public car parks which are safe and reasonably priced.
Mariane is originally from South Africa and spends most of her time at the family home in Durban. The property will be managed on a daily basis by Andy and Sally who run Angola '76 which is adjacent to the property.
Shaftesbury is a wonderful Saxon hilltop town set amid the rolling green countryside of the Blackmore vale - the vale of a thousand dairies! It has a long history and this is reflected in the many stone and thatched buildings in the narrow streets. It is a charming town to discover on foot with ample places for good food and drink - though you are staying at the most interesting place in Shaftesbury! The vista from the old Abbey is magnificent and Gold Hill gained it reputation from a famous Hovis advert in the 1970s which was the famous Ridley Scott's first production! The Jurassic Coast is a 45 minute drive and Thomas Hardy country is all around. The Tank Museum at Bovington is one of the most popular collections in the country. Salisbury and Dorchester are a 45 minutes drive. Shaftesbury itself has not got a railway station, the closest being Gillingham - 5miles away (NOT to be confused with Gillingham in Kent!), and Tisbury - 6 miles away. Both are served by Southwest Rail.
