Welcome to Alyth and to Vanora’s Cottages. Tucked away in the centre of the pretty Perthshire town of Alyth, our comfortable cottages are perfectly situated for your self-catering holiday. Close to the Cairngorms and many of the beautiful places in Central and Eastern Scotland, they are the ideal base for exploring the glens, mountains and lochs at any time of year.
St Louan's is owned and managed by sisters Clare and Olivia, we live in Alyth and are very plugged in to what is going on locally. In addition to our self catering cottages, we also co-run Alyth Craft Tourism which offers residential courses in willow weaving and other arts and crafts. We have special relationships with other micro-businesses in the area who offer guided nature walks and various kinds of outdoor activities including mountain biking and can organise various itineraries for you that encompass arts, culture, heritage and the great outdoors!
The countryside around and about Alyth is stunning. The famous Angus Glens are within a short drive time. There are a number of golf courses in the area that welcome visitors, including Alyth Golf Club. Also, there are plenty of easily accessible trails around the edge of the town such as The Den ‘o’ Alyth. More seasoned hill-walkers can hike The Cateran Trail, or the magnificent Cairngorms, the most extensive range of high mountains in the UK. The Cairngorm National Park is only about half an hours drive away. In winter, Glenshee offers the UK’s best skiing and snowboarding facilities. The Cateran Ecomuseum is an outstanding new cultural destination in Scotland’s Tay Country. A museum without walls set in the beautiful and dramatic landscapes of Cateran Country, all of the Ecomuseum sites are outside. Designed to reveal the hidden heritage of this little known part of Scotland by the community who live there, the Cateran Ecomuseum tells the story of its people, places and landscapes. You can visit and enjoy Ecomuseum sites through a series of itineraries that have been designed for walkers, cyclists and those visiting by car.
