I have lived at Little Thorness Farm all my life and have farmed here for nearly 30 years, taking over from my father. My family have farmed here since the 19th century and I am hoping my family will still be working the land here at the end of the 21st. This is home to me and my wife and my grown up children come and go as fits in with their plans. There is also Digby the farm cat who likes to introduce himself and make you feel at home and Tiptoe and Hovis the family ponies who are convinced the world loves them. Running the farm keeps my fully occupied but in my spare time I enjoy reading, watching sport, particularly football and cricket, beach combing, fossil hunting and conservation.
Old Stable Cottage is a converted farm building which forms part of the main farmyard at Little Thorness Farm. The farm is half a mile from the nearest road, approached down the farm lane, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Heritage Coastline of the northwest of the Isle of Wight. It is approximately 4 miles from the famous yachting town of Cowes and 5 miles from Newport. The fields run down to Thorness Bay which is a site of European Special Interest and marshlands on the farm are Special Protection Areas. All our fields are ancient pastures and home to many rare insects, birds and plants. The area is popular with walkers and bird watchers and has access to the coastal footpath. The cottage is adjacent to the farm house and other stables on the main yard. Parking for cars is immediately outside the front door and there is plenty of room for manoeuvring and additional parking. There are a range of local pubs within a short drive of the farm.
