I've lived in Strathpeffer for the last 12 years after moving from London. I grew up in London, Tokyo and Hong Kong and lived in Jerusalem (wonderful!) and Nigeria with my husband, Rob, who was in the British Diplomatic Service. Our children are Alexander who is 30, Rhiannon who is 18 and Nathaniel who is 14. We also have 3 grandchildren, Sasha, Donald and Casey. I like eating out, films, travel and walking our dogs. I work part-time for Tesco and Rob now works for Capita. Eventually we plan to retire to our holiday home in Almeria in South East Spain.
Strathpeffer is a lovely village with lots for visitors to do. There is the old Victorian Station, the Highland Museum of Childhood, the Spa Museum, coffee shops, gift shops, a deli, two churches, a newsagents/post office which sells food and drink, a pharmacy and hairdressers. There are frequent concerts, fairs and exhibitions at the Pavilion, and Castle Leod on the edge of the village is open many weekends during the summer. There are several bars and restaurants as well as hotels. In the summer months there is Highland dancing and bagpipes in the Square every Saturday evening. The village has an excellent 18 hole golf course where visitors are very welcome. We can lend you a set of clubs, please just ask. There are plenty of opportunities locally for cycling and walking. Rogie Falls and Tollie Red Kites are a short drive from the village and we can provide directions. The house is a 5 minute walk from Strathpeffer Square where you can catch buses to Dingwall, Inverness, Ullapool and Gairloch. In the summer months there is usually a daily cycle bus to and from the north Highlands.
