Rural and secluded on the edge of 1400 acres of common land the Apple Loft is a perfect base for exploring the countryside around. With its own entrance this self-contained apartment has everything you need to get away from it all. As well as our usual thorough clean between guests we now leave 24hrs between guests with a complete deep clean and sanitise. All crockery and cutlery is cleaned and all linen, including chair arm covers, is freshly laundered. The Apple Loft is part of a centuries old Cider House, providing compact tasteful accommodation off the beaten track. Beds can be arranged as a superking or two extra-long, singles on request. Outside stairs lead to a private entrance. There are stunning views up over the common to the north and over Herefordshire to the south. This floor contains a sitting and dining area, with the kitchen adjacent. The bathroom is also on this floor. An open plan staircase leads up to the bedroom with north and south skylights making the whole flat airy and bright. We are working towards creating on-site parking and the new terrace and garden are a haven of peace and tranquillity to complement the accommodation.
Wendy and Simon live in The Cider House which is slowly and lovingly being converted. We have a walled vegetable garden, a fruit area and are beginning to bring the rest of the garden under control. We love living on the common where there is so much wonderful walking and wildlife. Generally we are around to greet guests and provide any help or information you require.
We live on a 1400 acre common with open access so wonderful for walking. The pictures of the deer were taken on the common on a cold crispy morning. There are lovely views from Croft Ambrey, an iron age fort on top of the common, a fantastic place to watch sunsets over the Welsh hills. There is a great variety of wildlife here, some rare butterflies and we have many birds including the occasional red kite. A short walk away through Fish Pool Valley is Croft Castle. The walk through the woods to the castle is breathtaking in spring with carpets of bluebells, and other flowers. Ludlow is about 8 miles, popular all year with a castle and museum. In other directions there is a black and white village trail, cheesemaking, the Mappa Mundi in Hereford and Ross on Wye with many bookshops. We are only a few miles from the Welsh border, a lovely area to explore either driving or walking.
