When we stopped storing our apples and started turning them into cider we decided to convert our apple store to holiday accommodation. The Apple Loft provides a compact en suite bedroom with the facilities to make hot drinks and snacks. It is set in the two acre garden of our house, close to the centre of the village.
We came to Suffolk on holiday over thirty years ago and never really left. The Suffolk coast has so many things we like, great walking, culture, music, pubs and restaurants. We have worked together in property for many years - chartered surveyor/interior designer - and feel fortunate that we have been able to live and work in such a beautiful area and raise our family here. We have been letting and holiday letting property for many years, and knowing the area very well, are able to offer lots of ideas and advice on how to get the most out of a holiday in Suffolk.
Our village, Westleton, has a great deal to offer. There is a village green and duck pond, thatched mediaeval church, two excellent pubs - the Crown for fine dining and the lively White Horse, very popular with the locals. We also have a village shop and post office, a great second-hand bookshop, an art gallery. There are lots of great walks in and around the village. RSPB Minsmere is just down the road, as is the National Trust coastline at Dunwich Heath. The village of Dunwich is the remains of a once major port now lost to the sea (fortunately the Ship Inn and the Floral tearooms - both famous for their fish and chips - have survived! Visit Dunwich museum to find out more. The iconic Suffolk seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold are a short drive away, as is Snape Maltings, the internationally renowned concert venue, which also offers shopping and dining for all tastes. If you are here in August don't miss the Westleton Barrel Fair. Don't leave Suffolk without catching crabs at Walberswick, everyone has their own technique but we find they like bacon best.
