The lodge is located on the site of a former bamboo nursery. There are still many varieties of mature giant bamboos present today. The lodge also overlooks a large pond (1/3 of an acre!). Truly unique ! The lodge is very spacious - the main room is over 30m2 - so there is plenty of space for your travel cot should you wish to bring your little one(s) along. The lodge has been built to the very latest eco standards meaning it is a very pleasant place to stay. A bed with a view - in the day you can see the beautiful bamboo and at night you can go to sleep whilst watching the flames flicker. A continental breakfast is available.
Your hosts - Nathalie and Rich - live on site with their 2 young children in a separate property and will be available during your stay. Your hosts are very knowledgeable on the local area and will happily advise on walks, mountain bike / road bike routes, local tourist attractions and local pubs for dining. Please note: 1. A continental breakfast is available - this will be left in the lodge for you the night before to avoid any unwanted disturbance in the morning. 2. The lodge is split over 2 floors with kitchen downstairs and living accommodation upstairs. The private entrance is approached via 6 steps.
Guests are welcome to walk through the bamboo down to the pond where they will find a lovely quiet seating area - perfect for that morning cup of tea or coffee! The Lodge is located in Pluckley - a quintessentially English village famous for being both the most haunted village in the world and also for being the filming location for the TV series The Darling Buds of May. Despite the reputation for being haunted, Pluckley is a very friendly place and it is surrounded by beautiful countryside and fruit orchards. You can walk to the village centre with its public house, village shop and butchers in under 5 minutes. The Pluckley farm shop is 2 minutes drive away and it offers a variety of fresh produce including local wine and Kentish apple juice. Bamboo lodge is a good starting point for many walks / bike rides including walks to four pubs! Pluckley is ideally located - being totally rural yet still being easily accessible from the M20 and A20 making it a great base to explore the Kent countryside. The lodge is only 30 minutes drive from beautiful Canterbury and quirky Whitstable. It is also a great location as a stop-over to and from the continent (Eurotunnel 30mins).
