Information about the host

Our eco Cabins are located in Cae Richard, a field we bought about 15 years ago. Since than we have let the field (previously sheep pasture) naturally re-wild into the wildlife haven it is today. Young woodland and native vegetation have quickly come back, bringing with them an explosion of biodiversity with insects, small mammals, many rare small birds, otters and birds of prey sharing the field with our guests. We designed and built the Cabins ourselves, using locally sourced wood and fully insulating them to a very high standard. 'Dry' toilets and onsite reuse of all grey water from the Cabins feed the trees and plants making the site fully sustainable. But most importantly, it is a wonderful, peaceful and magical place, full of wildlife; a haven of beauty in a crazy World!

Hi, David and I work as experimental archaeologists. We study and make ancient tools and objects for museums and universities all over the World! We are based in our Studio (a beautiful Late Georgian Church) which is located in the woodland next to the Cabins. Our interest in using ancient technologies combined with modern green technologies to develop sustainable lifestyles led us to buy the field in which the Cabins are located and using permaculture ideas to allow the land to regenerate naturally back into a wildlife haven which also provides sustainable food resources - and is a beautiful, relaxing, magical place to spend time! Sue

We are located in the stunningly beautiful Conwy Valley; five minutes drive from the Medieval town and castle of Conwy and the A55. Right on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, the mountains and woodlands of the area offer ample walking, climbing and biking adventures. Surf Snowdonia and Bodnant Gardens are five minutes away and Zip World a mere ten minutes away. We have all the attractions of North Wales within very easy reach, but with the tranquility and stunning views of the countryside (oh and two very good pubs in easy walking distance!).
