The Casterbridge was built on the site of Dorchester's original prison, from bricks from the demolished site way back in 1790. Our rooms are as far as you could imagine from prison cells. we are constantly updating while keeping the essential character our an older classic property.

Melvin as a chef in some top class hotels and later in retail management and Monica in housekeeping and reception in several London hotels. Both love Dorchester and enjoy greatly long walks and trying out the local restaurants.

We are located conviently for the council offices and only minutes away from restaurants, pubs, shopping streets and the beautiful river walks. Also on the same high street us we have some fantstic museums with only minutes walk, such as the County Museum, The Mititary Museum and The Tutankhamum Museum.
