The Chantry dates back to 1490. It was doubled in size in 1933 & in 1955 was listed Grade 2, being of historical importance & increased to Grade 1 in the 1990s. Situated within an acre of garden and grounds with a well, we are a home from home; comfort and relaxation is utmost. We have a secluded garden & patio for the summer months, an open fire & wood burner for the cooler months. Your rooms are in the "new wing" with breakfast being served in the dining room; this was the kitchen and scullery of the original house and has a large inglenook fireplace and bread oven. The room is heavily beamed and there is a "plank & muntin" screen which forms the wall between the dining room and drawing room, or hall which has a much higher ceiling with painted beams. The Chantry provides a little sanctuary for anyone who stays. Over the centuries the house has provided a warm welcome for everyone, and we continue to assure the same cordial welcome and comfortable stay at our little piece of heaven in Devon.

John is an interior designer and upholsterer and works from home...there is evidence of his handiwork everywhere. We both like to travel too, so hearing about other people's adventures or experience all adds to the mix.
