I have a history in property development and 'The Coppice' was a self-build project which I completed in 2003. It was a happy family home where our children grew up in this beautiful peaceful haven. They went away to Uni and the house became devoid of the chatter and clatter of everyday life. I now extend a welcome to new and interesting people from around the world where we sit and "put the world to right!" I enjoy spoiling my guests and try to make their stay as relaxed and comfortable as possible. If guests comment on feeling at home, then I'm happy. Grace was carrying out her University Field work in the area and wrote this "I was carrying out fieldwork in the area. Couldn't have been made to feel more welcome and at home. Gill was up early every morning with breakfast and even gave me a lift to my field sites, nothing was too much trouble. The house itself is gorgeous, very well kept and the garden is lovely too. Thank you so much for all your help during my stay!" We do our best to share our knowledge of places to see and things to do in The Borders. My partner Jock is a local farmer with a wealth of local knowledge.
Situated as it is in the heart of the rural Scottish Borders region 'The Coppice' offers centrally located accommodation from Newcastle, Edinburgh & Glasgow airports. Steeped in its rich cultural heritage we are central to Kelso Abbey and Floors castle. Melrose, Jedburgh and Dryburgh Border Abbeys are a 'Must See'.The new train link to Edinburgh has opened up the Borders and is less than 25 minutes away passing by Abbotsford House, the home of Sir Walter Scott. Hawick being famous for its wool!
