The property is over a 100 years old. The Firs was turned into a guest house in 1974 and has been trading for 42 years. I believe we are the 5th owners , we purchased the Firs in 2004. Many years ago there were Fir Trees situated by the park Hence that's how The Firs got its name. We have had many Actors and Actress staying over the Years who have been preforming at the Theatre royal. We also have had one of the Doctor who's staying with us, my daughter was absolutely delighted as she is a great fan of Doctor who. During the second world war Pier street was heavily bombed. In placement of the houses bombed a Children's park area was built known as West Hoe park and further along there is a children's activity and lovely green space to have a picnic and children's rides.
We are family run Guest house Myself (Lesley) and my Husband Tony run the guest House , In the earlier days when the children were living at home they would help from time to time. Tony and I are both from Plymouth , we have a lot of local knowledge and very blessed to be living in Devon. When we do have time Tony likes to Fish and I attend A dance school for Adult Ballet and Tap. We enjoy family time especially with the grand children .
The Firs guest house is situated on The famous Plymouth Hoe were Sir Francis Drake played Bowls before he set sail for the Spanish Amarda or . Visit the Eddystone light house on the Hoe. Every year in August the National Fire work championships take place on Plymouth hoe. There is a lovely play park area for Children , Open Tin side swimming pool opened from May to September . There are various restaurant nearby, The water Front, wet wok Tapas bar , The Dome. The Local pub just a few minutes walk away whom serve food daily or if you prefer local Fish and chips one street away from pier street, Or take a stroll along the Hoe sea front to the Barbican , which has various bars and restaurants , visit the Marine Aquarium , See the famous Mayflower steps were the pilgrims set sail to America. There also the Elizabethan house and Merchant house to visit We are close by to the Plymouth Pavillon , Town centre and Theatre Royal and the Royal Citadel and Plymouth University
