Information about the host

The Gables has been a labour of love for the last 12 years - our daughter learnt to walk in the hallway and most importantly, it is our home. We have upgraded the property during this time and now have 14 lovely bright ensuite bedrooms to accommodate our guests. We also own (for the last 20 years) a nearby restaurant, Sheila's Cottage so our hearty Cumbrian breakfast is based on the good food ethics that we employ there - locally sourced and cooked to order.

Ambleside is situated right in the heart of the Lake District National Park with beautiful scenery and amazing walking opportunities from our doorstep. We are within a one minute walk of lovely independent shops and an array of dining experiences ranging from pubs and cafes to cosy restaurants and fine dining. Lake Windermere is a one mile walk away where you can cruise to the very southern end or just take a short ride and opt out at Wray Castle for a lovely walk.
