Location ! Staycation ! Vocation ! I bought the apartment 6 years ago so it has been tried and tested and really is home from home (without too much clutter). I love the apartment because it is open-plan, spacious, light and really gets the full benefit of the sun. It is also relatively quiet for a townhouse. The location is perfect for stepping out onto the friendly streets of Winchcombe. There are numerous lovely cafes, bars and restaurants on the doorstep as well as boutiques and gift shops. There is a supermarket and a delicatessen across the road which both close quite late and open early. You are a hop skip an a jump to the river Isbourne, a short stroll to Sudeley Castle and the GWRS steam railway station. There is a tourist information centre just around the corner and also a museum. Winchcombe is popular with antiques and charity shop enthusiasts too. In terms of places to go to at night you are really spoilt for choice. Saturday nights are a great time to visit the Wesley wine bar as they have live music and both the Plaisterers and the Lion have lovely gardens and are dog friendly pubs as are the others
I am Judy, semi-retired divorcee with grown up kids. Poppy (the Paterdale terrier) and I live in the Loft for some of the year but I do travel overseas a lot visiting my sons, Dutch partner and home in Turkey which is also available on here. So, it seemed to make perfect sense to share this lovely place with holiday makers. I also do exchanges with people from as far afield as Singapore and Australia. I chose Winchcombe (we came to the Gloucestershire area as a family in 1994 originally, with RAF) . I love it because as it is dog friendly it is easy to pop into the pubs and hostelries on your own as a singleton. The walks are fantastic too and views to die for .....................................
Winchcombe has many events and festivals throughout the year. Many at the steam-train stations and also there is War-time in the Cotswolds (end of April) and the Walking Festival (20-22nd of May) and the Music and Arts Festival (last weekend in May, including a street-fair with live entertainment on bank-holiday Monday) and the Country show - August bank holiday. There are many events at Sudeley castle throughout the year too and it is geared up really well for families. Transport services to nearby Cheltenham and the famous race-course are good and the Cotswold Villages of Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stanton and Stanway are a short drive away. Stratford-on-Avon is close enough for a day trip. If you enjoy walking then you have the Cotswold Way nearby and the Winchcombe Way too. There are so many great walks. You can walk cross country to Hailes Abbey, over Langley Hill to the Royal Oak in Gretton Village and also up to the ancient burial chamber at Belas Knap There is another lovely walk to the high altitude Cleeve Common where you look down to Cheltenham and across the valley to the Malvern Hills. So many stunning views !
