The Malthouse is in an outstanding location and offers spacious living and level of home comforts you might not expect in a 300 hundred-year-old house. As soon as you walk through the heavy oak door into the original cart-way, you feel this warm friendly space, from the cart-way you will see the stylish handmade kitchen and dining room, complete with working stone fireplace. The huge pine dining table hosts up to 14 people in the well-equipped kitchen and open fire place. Just off the original arched cart-way entrance is an easily accessible double bedroom with a shower and toilet. The kitchen leads you to two lounges, both are comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. One has an inglenook fireplace, very welcoming on those colder days, deep sofa and workspace. The other is the garden room where you can enjoy far-reaching views of the idyllic countryside. Elegantly proportioned, it has a 50 inch smart TV and plenty of room for family games and relaxation. The turret stairway leads you, with help from a rope bannister, up to the first floor where there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. All the bedrooms are large and comfortable with crisp Egyptian cotton linen and fluffy towels. The master bedroom, flooded with light from the dual aspect windows, beautifully decorated, this can also be a mini suite. The second floor has the remaining two bedrooms. One with views over the garden and countryside, the other twin room has a captivating view of the ancient malthouse roof through a floor to ceiling glass window. The outside space has a big open courtyard and large, long, well-managed garden. Guests enjoy alfresco dining and barbecues. A range of outdoor games including table tennis are provided for screen-free fun. City of Bath is a 15-minute drive (or catch the bus from the village). Staying at the Malthouse you will enjoy all this world heritage site has to offer while staying out of the tourist bustle in a quintessential English village.

We use it as a holiday let for our own family and friends to get together, as well as renting it out to large groups of families and friends. Norton St Philip, a picturesque village of historic interest 6 miles south-east of Bath in Somerset. Next door to the Malthouse is The George Inn, reputed to be the oldest in England dating back to the 13th century which has a very good restaurant and cosy bars. Behind the Malthouse, Church Mead slopes gently down to the 14th-century church of St Philip and St James with glorious views over the Somerset countryside.
