The Old House, Llwyn Madoc, is the oldest wing of our beautiful home and situated in the middle of an estate that has been in the family for over 350 years. It is newly refurbished with new mattresses, carpets and kitchen this year. It is very comfortable, sunny and very peaceful, being completely self-contained and on the side of a beautiful, remote valley. Guests have a small separate garden but can make themselves at home wandering our beautiful grounds and they have use of the tennis court. There is table-tennis too. Fresh vegetables are available when in season from our garden. Great opportunities for walking and cycling for miles are on the doorstep. We can point you in the direction of plenty of other things to see and do in the area and despite our feeling of remoteness you can still walk to a pub!
We really look forward to welcoming guests to The Old House and sharing our beautiful countryside. We can give you lots of information on what to do and see locally or let you rest, unwind and enjoy the quiet. Our valley really does have a magical quality to it and is perfect for taking a deep breath and letting you forget the frenetic pace of day to day life. We have lived at Llwyn Madoc as family for many years and love walking in the hills and woods and enjoy challenging cycling with virtually no traffic and even some wild swimming - we are happy to share our special places with you. We can organise guided walks and yoga sessions locally (with notice) too.
The stunning countryside defines our area with the Brecon Beacons visible on a sunny day to the south of us, the black and white villages of Herefordshire only 45 mins by car to the East and the coast a lovely day trip west and south. We are within 25 miles of Hay on Wye - where the famous book festival takes place. More locally there are some charming market towns, which thrived in Victorian times when people came to take the waters. There are some good local shops and supermarkets within 5-10 miles too. Excellent pubs and restaurants cater for all budgets and many tastes. Outdoor activities - fishing, shooting, golf, hiking, cycling, riding are all popular and available locally.
