Our property is a beautiful historic building built by the famous Joseph Paxton who designed the Crystal Palace for the Great Exhibition of 1851. The house is one of a very few B&Bs close enough to three of the most famous Peak District attractions - Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Bakewell - for our guests to be able to walk to these locations from the house along beautiful National Park footpaths in just one hour or less. We also have guide books for all the major attractions that our guests can borrow to take with them when they visit or just to read in the comfort of our sitting / dining room.
I have been running my B&B for more than ten years and do my upmost to make my guests comfortable by providing extras not normally offered, including step by step guides for local walks that I have designed myself. As I am a great walker I can also give you advice about the best walks to do throughout the Peak District National Park.
The beautiful village of Rowsley is located in the Derwent Valley and has a working flour mill and craft centre, two hotels with fine dining restaurants open to the public, a village pub that serves food all day and the Peak Village Shopping Centre. Rowsley is only half a mile from Peak Rail historic steam railway and straddles the border of the Peak District National Park in between Matlock and Bakewell. Just one mile away is the Devonshire Arms pub, an award winning gastro pub very popular with locals and visitors alike.
