Picturesque Rostrevor dates from the 18th Century.However it located on the site of a much earlier community established in the 6th Century by St. Bronagh, to facilitate pilgrims from southern and western Ireland crossing the Mourne Mountains to pray at the grave of St. Patrick in Downpatrick. The author C.S. Lewis wrote that Rostrevor was his inspiration for the magical world of Narnia. The village hosts the internationally renowned Fiddlers Green Folk festival and has become home to many artists, musicians and writers.
