Situated in the heart of the Peak District, the The Sir William is a 5-minute drive from Grindleford Rail Station. It offers individually decorated rooms surrounded by picturesque views.
There is a traditional bar area with views of the National Park, where guests can enjoy bar meals and full English breakfast in the morning.
All of the rooms at Sir William have carpeted floors, TVs, and tea and coffee facilities. Some also feature stunning, uninterrupted views of the valley.
Located in the middle of charming Grindleford, the hotel is just 15 minutes' drive from Chatsworth House and the market town of Bakewell. Sheffield city centre and the centre of Chesterfield can both be reached in 25 minutes by car.
The Sir William Hotel is a family run inn with eight comfortable rooms in the picturesque village of Grindleford. We have a thriving bar and restaurant which hosts not only hotel guests but the welcoming local community. We operate a non-smoking policy in the entire hotel including rooms. The building was built in the 1700s and extended in the 1800s with the arrival of the railway and has been an Inn all of that time. We have a lovely terraced garden with stunning views over Grindleford and across to Froggatt Edge. We are able to hold small weddings and other celebrations in a private function room. Please check our website for check-in times (not 24 hour) and other details such as bringing pets before you book. We do not have any ground floor rooms or lift access. We operate a 2 night minimum stay at weekends but may have late availability nearer your date of stay. There is a large private car park. Apologies to those who experienced our boiler breakdown in late 2019 - we now have a brand new boiler in place.
We are experienced hoteliers and moved from Sussex in 2014 to this beautiful part of the Peak District National Park with our two Westies, Whisky & Mac who are sadly no longer with us. We had a new addition to our family in 2019, another Westie called Harvey. We look forward to welcoming old and new friends to share the relaxing and stunning scenery here in Derbyshire.
There is so much to see and do in The Peak District National Park and we are located just ten minutes away from Chatsworth House. Whether you want a gentle stroll or a more strenuous activity such as climbing it is all within easy reach. Castleton, Bakewell, Sheffield and Chesterfield are all with easy reach. We have a direct train link with Manchester and Sheffield. Taxis are best booked in advance if you require transport for an evening occasion. There is a local bus service. The village has a small Community Shop based in the church and is bordered by The National Trust Longshaw Estate.
