Information about the host

Stay in 1 of 5 holiday properties at Henley Hall to experience a stay on a quintessentially English Country Estate. Henley Hall offers peace and tranquillity in the beautiful Shropshire countryside yet only 2 miles from the historic town of Ludlow. The Stables offers 3 independent and self contained apartments in a beautifully restored Georgian stable block with each apartment offering all you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay with all modern conveniences. The Gardener's Cottage dates back to when the Estate employed 14 full time gardeners and The Orangery is the Grade II listed orangery built to provide the Hall with exotic citrus fruits.

Seb and Helen bought the property in 2015. The last time Henley Hall was sold was in 1874 when it was bought by the Wedgwood family of Wedgwood china. The core of the house dates back to 1610. Seb and Helen Phillips have a wealth of local knowledge to make your stay enjoyable and experience the delights of Shropshire.

Nestling in the South Shropshire countryside, Ludlow was described by Sir John Betjeman as "probably the loveliest town in England". It is bursting with beautiful half timbered buildings, cobbled streets and history. One of the key attractions is the medieval castle perched on the cliff over looking the River Teme, which served as the headquarters of the Council of Wales from 15th to 17th Centuries. Today it is home to medieval fayres and the Ludlow Food Festival. Food and drink is one of the reasons many visitors come to Ludlow. In addition to the Spring and Autumn Food Festivals, the many delicatessens, bistros, cafes and restaurants serving local Shropshire produce, visitors can enjoy the summer Magnalonga, an 8 mile walk through the Shropshire countryside enjoying food and drink along the way. If walking is a passion there are plenty of walks to enjoy from the Bread Walk in town, Mortimer's Forest or the glacial landscape hills of the LongMynd near Church Stretton with wild ponies. Essentially, Shropshire is the county that time forgot and offers the opportunity to step off the 'conveyor belt of life' to take a break from the stress of everyday modern life!
