This attractive stone cottage with its pretty garden, sits within the quiet village of Bradford Abbas near to the historic town of Sherborne, and is wonderfully situated for exploring the counties of Dorset and Somerset.
Thistledo is well situated being about 10-minutes drive from both the pretty and historic market town of Sherborne (in Dorset) and from Yeovil (in Somerset). The village of Bradford Abbas, has a village pub, The Rose and Crown which is just a two minute walk from the cottage. There is a good village shop in nearby Thornford with a Post Office. Within a short drive of the cottage are several National Trust properties including Montacute House, Lytes Cary, Tintinhull and Barrington Court. Sutton Bingham Resevoir at Closworth is just a ten minute drive away and well worth a visit to see the abundant wildlife, flora and fauna, and a great place for a relaxing stroll. Ham Hill Country Park is certainly worth a visit for the wonderful views across Somerset and some excellent walking opportunities. Guests can also explore the spectacular Jurassic Coastline, which is only a short drive away. A visit to Mapperton House and Gardens near Beaminster, a magnificent Georgian Manor House is recommended. The Dorset County Museum in Dorchester, or Thomas Hardy's house at Max Gate or Hardy's cottage at Bockhampton are within an easy drive away.
