Welcome to Tulach, from the Gaelic meaning 'hill'. Tulach is a detached cedar wood chalet-style cottage with two bedrooms (double and twin). Soak in the views from our beautiful extended eat-in kitchen with large windows - with a coffee in the morning and perhaps a wee dram in the evening. Or enjoy it from the deck - not much sun is needed to make the experience truly fantastic. The kitchen is fully fitted with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. The living room benefits from an open fire, double aspect picture windows, comfy sofa, wifi (all around the house), TV with satellite channels and casting facility. The views from the living room are also wonderful. A beautiful hard wood floor runs throughout the cottage but is complemented by warm rugs and soft furnishings. The bathroom includes a bath with shower over, and gorgeous 'Naranja' tiles (as seen on Grand Designs). We have a large garden, and red squirrels are regularly seen. And don't forget to look up at the sky at night - you won't believe the sight! Visit Scotland 3 stars grading.
I was brought up in the beautiful town of Pitlochry, close to Blair Atholl. My parents and sister still live there and I am regularly in Pitlochry and Blair Atholl with my own family. I love to walk in the hills and enjoy the endless outdoor pursuits that Perthshire and the Highlands have to offer - from skiing to zip wiring across gorges in the Cairngorms! My kids adore the wide open spaces and the freedom to go wild.
Any time of year, walking in the forests and hills is a delight. We are very proud of our bespoke walking guide, prepared by Jennifer's father who has scaled a very large number of the Munros in Scotland. Or just drive up the A9 towards Aviemore (skiing is also possible in the Cairngorms). Just beyond Blair Atholl the scenery becomes more rugged and wild, and it is truly quite sensational. Try cycling from Dalwhinnie to Blair Atholl - downhill practically the whole way. There is bike hire in Blair Atholl and you can put the bikes on the train up to Dalwhinnie before the 22 mile ride back. There are so many more outdoor pursuits to try, including white water rafting to bungee jumping! For some serious shopping therapy, try House of Bruar just 3 miles up the road from Blair Atholl - the 'Harrods of the North'. There are many activities around Blair Castle - contact Atholl Estates. For eating out locally, try the Loft Restaurant, the Atholl Arms, or the Struan Inn, which offers a courtesy car service. Or try a leisurely swim, sauna and steam at the Steadings Spa, below the Loft Restaurant.
