The harbour town of Charlestown is within walking distance with its tall ships, cafés, bars, charming pubs, fascinating shipwreck museum, antiques, craft and gift shops. Charlestown has recently found fame as the setting for the current series of Poldark. The sandy sailing beach of Porthpean with a water sports centre and the popular Pentewan beach are also close by. St Austell, the largest town in Cornwall and home to a selection of interesting, independent shops is nearby. This is where you can experience wonderful days out at The Lost Gardens of Heligan or The Eden Project. The Cornish seaside towns of Mevagissey and Fowey are well worth a day trip.
