Information about the host

Though the house is less than five minutes' walk from the city centre, it has the feel of a country cottage. The front door leads directly into the living room which is bright and comfortable with a wood-burning stove, two sofas and a dining table. There is also a television, and free internet connection. This leads to a well-equipped recently modernised kitchen and then to a small utility area with washing machine. Beyond this is a modern bathroom and access to an attractive garden patio area with pots of flowers, metal table, chairs and bench. Quite steep stairs (not suitable, I'm afraid, for people with mobility problems) lead to the first and second storeys. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, one of which is a generous size and has the original fireplace. The second flight of stairs leads to the beamed attic bedroom which runs the depth of the house. York Minster can be seen from one of the windows. There is a permit which allows free car parking for one car. The road is a quiet cul-de-sac.

I am a retired primary school teacher and we have come back to living in York after many years away. It is such a beautiful and historic city and we look forward to welcoming you to it. Our house is just round the corner from the holiday house so we are close at hand if you need us.
