The village of Westward Ho! was built in the 1860's as a seaside holiday destination for the Victorians and the village still retains much of its Victorian charm and character with its collection of seaside bars, restaurants and tea-rooms. Situated on the North Devon Coast in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Westward Ho! is an established tourist destination and home to both the North Devon Surf School and the Royal North Devon Golf Course (the oldest Links course in the country founded in 1864). The provincial towns of Bideford (3 miles) and Barnstaple (10 miles) and both Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks are a short drive away.
