Wimbledon in South-West London is world famous as the home to the Tennis Championships, the New Wimbledon Theatre, and Wimbledon Common, one of the largest areas of green park in London and a wonderful place to go for a relaxing stroll. Wimbledon is on the outskirts of Greater London and it is an affluent suburb with its grand Victorian houses. The residential area is split into “the village” and “the town”. “The village” near the common is centred on the High Street and is part of the original medieval village. It is now a prime residential area of London commanding high prices. The "town" is part of the modern development, centred on The Broadway. London has an extensive transport network and Wimbledon is the only station providing an interchange between the National Rail, London Underground and Tramlink.
