Woodpeckers is a tastefully refurbished Great Western Railway Carriage for a self-catering luxury glamping experience. It is fully self-contained, with its own shower and toilet, kitchenette with usual facilities, and comfy double bed and TV. It is situated on the working smallholding of Blaen-Y-Cwm, the landscaped gardens of which have been opened for the National Garden Scheme. The smallholding has two polytunnels, an orchard, a fruit cage, and raised vegetable beds. It also has free-ranging chickens and ducks, a quail house, and a bee apiary. Blaen-Y-Cwm sits 1140 feet in the Welsh Uplands and shines out like an oasis from the bleak Mealienydd Common that surrounds it, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The nearby Welsh mountainous scenery is spectacular, and there are lots of interesting places to visit.
