The building was the main farm in the village till a new modern farm was built in the late 1800's. Its made up of 2 or 3 cottages, evidence of their individual staircases still exists. Be ready to find yourself in the center of village life.
We moved to Wortley Cottage Guest House in June, 2009. We also run the adjoin Post Office and Village Shop. We both enjoy Walking, Dancing and exploring the area we live.
With the Trans Pennine Trail (TPT) on our doorstep, guests are able to explore the area on quite tracks and paths either on foot, cycles or horseback. The heavy industry associated with the area no-longer exist, in it's place we have The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The National Coal Museum and RSPB Old Moor to name a few. The great houses and gardens of Wortley Hall, Cannon Hall, Wentworth Woodhouse and Stainbrough Castle are just minutes away.
