Borough Court is a listed property and one of the oldest houses in Hampshire with records going back as far as 1333. At one time it was believed to be a monastic property. It is surrounded by approximately 90 acres of grazing pasture and woodland. Borough Court offers three bedrooms on a B&B basis. Two large double rooms and one connecting twin which can also be made up as a large double.
Hi, I'm Sophie - and my husband Ed and I have recently started opening up our house to B&B guests. Borough Court is one of the oldest houses in Hampshire and has only been lived in by four families. The house has a fascinating history in relation to those families, and in fact the Princess Royal (Princess Anne) was first introduced to her husband Mark Phillips over dinner in Borough Court's dining room. This was due to the fact Michael (Ed's father) and an Olympic event rider was in the same team as the Princess Royal and they became good friends. We have a website if you want to know more.
Borough Court is based within 90 acres of farmland which belongs to the Bullen family. Ed’s mother breeds event horses and has a small holding of sheep, and there is woodland to walk through which has some lovely bluebells in the Spring. We are conveniently located for London which is less than an hour by car and 45 mins by train, Heathrow Airport is 20 minutes drive and Gatwick under an hour. We have many guests who stay during Royal Ascot and Windsor Horse Show. We are also less than 30 minutes from the South Downs, the historical City of Winchester (which was the original capital city in the UK before London) and 45 minutes from Stone Henge (one of the seven ancient wonders of the world). The south downs and the south coast are easily locatable from here, as well as the Isle of Wight; including ferry terminals for France from Portsmouth and Southampton. Basingstoke, Reading and Newbury are within 20-30 minutes drive, so we are very conveniently located for business people who might be looking for a night or two’s accommodation On a local basis we have many pubs and restaurants in neighbouring villages for lunch/dinner. We can always advise on this so please ask
