Being absolutely honest we are new to hosting but very much look forward to meeting new people. We are a family of 5 which includes our fur-baby so welcome children and well-behaved pets to our home. We live a pretty busy life with work, family and our hobbies. We both teach karate so keep busy with this many evenings of the week and some weekends and you may hear the piano our guitars playing from our end as the children love their music. Mere is a lovely town/village - its definition varies depending on who you talk to and holds most of the amenities you need. Pubs, shops, tea rooms, flower and veg shop, library and museum. If you like walking then Mere is great and the walks range from a gentle stroll across the Medes or along towards Burton, a more strenuous climb up Castle Hill which is highly recommended for the views with the added addition of the friendly goats that keep the grass under control and then there is the Horse Shoe which takes you right up the hill to the Roman Road. From here you could even walk to Stourhead Gardens across country. We love living here and I can guarantee you would love to visit! See you soon
Mere currently has 3 pubs that all have great food plus the Angel Tea Rooms, The Brush Works which has a restaurant and you can even get coffee and local and cake in Sprout and Flower the local flower and veg shop. We also have a fish and chip shop, Chinese and an Indian Restaurant. There is a Coop if you don't want to venture too far to get your basics as well as the post office and a chemist. Mere also boasts the library which also houses the museum which can be found opposite St Michael's Church. It used to be the old school. You don't have to venture far for a day out as we have Stourhead Gardens just up the road and Longleat not much further. In addition to this you have Salisbury, Bath and Bristol to visit as well as Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth if you fancy a drive to the coast. If you like your history we have the old town of Sherborne and its Castle within 1/2 hour.
